DAY 3

Arranged for a transfer service to the pier from the place where we booked the Phang Nga tour for 600Baht each. Now that I think about it, I do feel it's a little expensive... but ohwell! It's going to be money well spent... so there! Yeahyeah, and my excuses... bleah.

We had our breakfast at this Shakers place and our driver picked us up from our hotel at 12pm, we set off for the pier after picking up the rest of the tourists. Just to fill you up a bit, there are numerous day tours to Phi Phi where you'd be back in your hotels by evening but we decided to spend 2 nights on Phi Phi instead!

So after a 1hr 20min ferry ride(just about as long as we took to come to Phuket again!), we arrived at the beautiful Phi Phi islands. Actually, Ton Sai Bay.

i love these pictures luh

We were led to an agency (again! but we didn't have much of a choice, since we didn't make any prior reservations) whereby we paid 1400Baht/night for a room with air-con and hot shower at Tropical Gardens Resort. It's bloody expensive basic accommodation and they're all out to rip you off, if you ask me, but I guess that's the way things go over here, on this touristy island. It's the peak season right now and all the fan rooms are booked.

Anyhow, they got a young boy (maybe 15, 16?) to push our luggage back to our hotel for us. There isn't exactly any form of motor vehicles found on the island, and they have no proper roads too (still in the midst of development, boo, and recovery from the tsunami), so the islanders go around pushing their stuff in push carts/trolleys, whichever is more appropriate. We had trouble keeping up with him for the entire 15 minutes we spent walking luh, I just don't get how he can walk so fast while pushing that trolley, when the roads are uneven and bumpy, and there's so much traffic in the opposite direction. I feel... damned the lousy leh... haha

Got a 3rd-level room... The whole place's the concept of a group of atap houses, just that there're more levels. The room's the smallest in all the hotels that I've ever been to, but packs just about everything that you'll need for a good night's sleep.

toilet that flushes well, sink that doesn't choke.

Photobucket
hot-water shower that I am thankful for

Photobucket
we used plasters to tape the curtains to the wall cause people could just peer in.
sorry for the bikinis!

Photobucket
dressing table with a mirror, and power sockets!

Photobucket
and a super doink bed! it's just so springy and I like that!

Decided that it was too late (around 5pm) to go for any snorkelling activity, so we ended up exploring a bit for our dinner. Walked around the island to see what were the other types of accommodation available, and what life on the island's like. There were quite few bamboo tattoo shops, bars, mini-marts, restaurants, and you got to be on your guard when you're out there on the streets cause every minute, there's going to be someone moving those trolleys at really high speed around you. We got ourselves a big bottle of drinking water from the minimart on the beachfront before moving off to the busier centre (not shopping centre centre) of the island. If I can call it the village, I would.

Photobucket
really simple houses, this would be much cheaper and a refreshing experience to stay in. Too bad there wasn't any available.

Photobucket
this is low tide, during high tide all the long-tail boats will be on water... pretty amazing how more than half the beach that you see now is going to be made up of water in 6 hours time.

Photobucket
and there were basically just many angmohs lounging around, chatting, reading, smoking etc etc.

I swear there are more angmohs than you can imagine, they're probably more likely to bump into each other in Phi Phi than back at home.

For dinner, we stumbled into this restuarant called Cosmic. It's probably one of the best things that happened to us in Phi Phi, along with all the other bests. Simple and delicious ingredients used to make our food, but the food's simply delicious can! Pun intended.

Photobucket
bf's carborana spaghetti; full of creamy and milky goodness, and yet, yet not too cloying. he loved it so much he wanted to go ask them freeze a pack for him to bring back to sg; I had to remind him we still had 4 more days in Thailand...

Photobucket
and now my turn to rave about my delicous ultra-thin crusted formaggi pizza! and it has to be oven-baked, my favourite pizzas! I have no idea what are the 4 types of cheese used in the sauce, but I don't really have to, right? Loved the powdery base too; melts in your mouth.

Photobucket
my first slice of delicious!

Photobucket
Cosmic's the name... you really.need.to.try.this if you ever stay overnight on Phi Phi island! Don't forget this okayy.

Photobucket
yeap, shoes off! and how the place looks from across the street.

Photobucket
I look like I'm biting my fingers hor. The restaurant's interior...

After dinner, there really wasn't much to do and we weren't really in a drinking mood. We headed back to our hotel room, checked with the receptionist regarding tour fees around the island, played a few rounds of Spider Solitaire, and slept. It's going to be a longggggggg day ahead! Digress: there were some really drunk angmohs on the loose and they pissed the hell out of me, making all that din when we were just about to sleep... chao angmohs!

ps. I've just finished tweaking the Day 4 pictures, really hope that you guys are enjoying looking at them as I am, if not, I'd feel like I've just put myself through some self-induced misery of having to look at the computer screen for sucha longggggggggg time.
